National Post

I had the honour and pleasure of designing two cakes for the National Post newspaper, which were featured on March 9, 2013. The inspiration for cakes was drawn from two dresses from the 2013  Paris haute couture runway.

There were various beautiful designs from many talented designers. Yet, the opening gown by Valentino caught my eye, along with the greyish dress with lavender undertone.

The opening dress with the design in red against a flesh colour, reminded me of piping. Immediately, I was drawn to the dress due to its vibrant red and the intricate, yet, elegant design.

Inspiration for the second cake was also from the Valentino collection.  A combination of lilac and silver shimmer, with embroidery and lace work provided me with many ideas. Yet, to make it simple, elegant and differnt, the cake was designed utilizing the embroidery work on the bodice of the dress.

It was such a great joy and a honour to create two cakes inspired by two beautiful gowns. The rest of the collection of dresses are a great inspiration for cakes.
